Eurotrip #2: INTERLAKEN

Buh-bye Germany!

Once again, I’m on the train typing this post for you on Word.  You better appreciate it! J

So, Switzerland.. Absolutely gorgeous!  Interlaken is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to!  The water is seriously the bluest water I’ve ever seen.  And the terrain is even greener than Dublin.  The scenery could take your breath away.

On our first day there, we got there around 4 p.m.  Some guys we met the night before in Munich arrived at the same time we did, and we didn’t really wanna talk to them cause they were weird and rude, so we basically ignored each other while we were both checking into the hostel.  Awks..  But the weather was nice because Interlaken is tucked away in a valley of the Swiss Alps, so we weren’t getting any harsh, cold wind, THANK GOD.  This cold weather has been making me a little angry lately.  We check into to hostel and threw our bags down and went exploring.  Snow-capped mountains were in every direction and we could see hang gliders, skydivers and paragliders everywhere!  We got lost walking around, but it was fine because it was so fricken gorgeous.  We found the city center and roamed around a bit.  There was a chocolate shop, so only because we were in Switzerland, we bought $8 worth of chocolate; and it was worth every penny!  SOO GOOD.  Then we went to find some food and of course, we got pizza. What’s new?  So then we walked around the city, took a lot of pictures of the scenery and everything.  We saw this picture one time of a gorgeous place to snap a pic, so we went looking for that.  But we couldn’t find it/got lost so we just went back to the hostel cause it was getting kinda chilly.

Walkin to the hostel!

Pizza..of course.

SOO worth the 8 euro we paid.

What a beaut.

When we got back we met a really nice girl from Canada that was in our room.  She was backpacking around Europe also, only she had been to like 15 more countries than us.  It was nuts.  We soon figured out our “world famous hostel” was a piece of crap.  We couldn’t understand why it got such great reviews!  It’s called Bulmer’s Hostel.  Don’t ever stay there.  We had to press something in the shower for the water to even stay on because it turned off every 10 seconds..and so did the lights.  We even got kicked out of our hostel everyday from 10-2.  It was definitely the worst hostel we’ve stayed it yet.  Good thing the city was pretty.

We went to bed like really early that night and got up and left before 10 a.m. the next morning.  Caity wanted to go paragliding, but the weather was kinda crappy and it wouldn’t have been as good as a view.  And for 100 euro, it wasn’t worth it.  So literally, the rest of the day we walked around.  We tried to find that picture-esque place, but we couldn’t find it.  So instead we walked a few miles to a lake and just sat there looking at the mountains and ducks that were eating around us.  We got back to the city and ate some food and ice cream.

Serisously, the water is THAT blue

And so clear!

Such a beautiful place!
Once we got back to the hostel we lied around our room for a while then went to the bar downstairs.  Apparently, this was the coolest bar in Interlaken.  I’ve been to better bars in basements of people’s houses.  It was cool, but nothing exciting.  We grabbed some cider and sat down.  Some guys from Geneva started talking to us in French.  They didn’t have that great of English so the conversation got boring pretty quickly.  Only they didn’t leave.  They were boarder control people so they thought they were hot stuff.  Anyways, thank goodness for the American people we met in the bathroom, we just ended up talking to them the rest of the night. Then Caity met a skydiver instructor and basically convinced us to go skydiving.  We were leaving the next morning so we decided to get up early and do it!  We got up the next morning andddddd we woke up too late.. so we had to go straight to the train station.  Oopsy!  But we decided before we leave Europe that we’re gonna do it!

But that was our Interlaken trip!  If the weather was nicer, and if we came more prepared with our clothing choices, it would have been super fun.  There are so many things you can do in Interlaken like hike, ski, zipline, fall from the sky ect, but we just didn’t really come prepared to do any of it, so we walked around.  I would suggest anyone to go there because the town is beautiful!  We really enjoyed ourselves there, but we couldn’t wait to get to the warm coast of Cinque Terre!!
Cheers!
